Before you arrive
Online Patient Pre-Registration
Santa Barbara Surgery Center offers patients the convenience and privacy of a secure online registration process through Simple Admit. By completing your registration online, you will create a health data report that can be used for subsequent medical visits at any provider. It is important to complete your online registration as soon as possible so that your medical team will have time to review your information prior to your visit.
Preoperative Phone Call
One or two days prior to your surgery, one of our nurses will call you, provide directions to the Santa Barbara Surgery Center, and answer your questions. We will also discuss any health issues indicated on your patient health questionnaire, or obtain a health history if you have not already returned your health questionnaire. The nurse will also emphasize the importance of adhering to our No Eating and Drinking requirements.
If you do not receive a call or have any questions please call our pre-admission nurses at 805-563-4121 or 805-563-4122.
Arrangements to Make Before Surgery
Make transportation arrangements prior to your surgery. It is imperative that you be accompanied by a responsible adult for at least 24 hours after you’ve been discharged. You will not be able to drive yourself home, and you should not be left alone after an operation.
Patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and they must remain in the facility at all times.
You may NOT eat or drink anything after midnight. Failure to comply with our ‘Eating and Drinking Rules’ will result in the cancellation of your surgery. If your surgery is scheduled after 12 noon, our staff will advise whether clear liquids are allowed on the morning of surgery. Consult your physician if you have questions regarding your medications.
Wear loose and comfortable clothing and leave all valuables at home. Remove all jewelry and contact lenses, and avoid wearing eye make-up. Please shower and brush your teeth before surgery. Call your physician if you develop a cold, fever or infection within days before the surgery. If you must cancel your surgery for any reason, please notify your doctor as soon as possible.
